Space42, the UAE’s first AI-powered spacetech company, and AI firm nybl have launched a satellite-enabled AI solution designed to improve efficiency and productivity in the oil and gas sector. The solution, developed in partnership with Space42’s satellite arm Thuraya under Yahsat Space Services, focuses on AI-powered satellite communications (SatComs) to optimise oil wells.

The solution, certified over a six-month trial on 27 oil wells using the Thuraya satellite network, integrates nybl’s AI platform, n.lift, to predict potential failures in Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP). This predictive capability allows companies to address issues before they occur, reducing downtime and operational costs while extending pump lifespans by 20-30% and increasing oil production by 5%.

“We are proud to be at the forefront of developing AI-powered SatCom solutions that can help oil and gas players make informed decisions to enhance operational efficiencies,” Sulaiman Al Ali, CEO of Thuraya. “As we embark on the next phase of our journey as Space42, we will continue to offer access to accurate, reliable communication solutions to allow seamless connectivity, and real-time data transmission that will streamline operations for customers around the world.”
